Membership Eligibility and Dues*

Member

An individual of any age who devotes a substantial portion of time to the full-time paid professional practice of public relations/communications/social media or related field or to the teaching or administration of public relations/communications courses in an accredited college or university.

More than three years of experience:
(For fewer than three years of experience, see Associate Memberships below.)

  • Initiation Fee*: $65 (one-time initiation fee is required for new members)

Associate Memberships

Associate Member 1

Less than one year of experience in Public Relations or Communications industry (automatically upgraded to Associate Member 2 after one year of membership).

Associate Member 2
Less  than two years experience in PR (AM2s are automatically upgraded to Associate Member 3 after two year of membership).

Associate Member 3
Two to three years experience in PR (AM3s are automatically upgraded to Member after three years of membership.)

  • Associate Member, PRSSA Graduate
    As a PRSSA member, you are eligible to join PRSA as an Associate Member up to five months before or two years after you graduate. Associate Member dues are only $67 — a savings of $200 per year. PLUS, you will also receive a free, one-year membership in PRSA's New Professionals Section to help you network and learn from peers facing similar challenges.

    Associate Member, Graduate Student
    As an AMGS you must be enrolled full-time in an advanced degree program. Proof of full-time matriculation is required and must be submitted with your application. You may remain an AMGS member for a maximum of six years or as long as you are a full-time student.

    Retired Membership

    Retired members will continue to receive all member benefits. Members who have retired from full time employment may switch to retired member status if they:

    1. Have retired from the full-time practice of public relations or communication and are employed less than 50 percent of the time.
    2. Have been a PRSA member for five or more consecutive years, and in good standing. An affidavit attesting that they meet the above criteria must also be filled out.

    *Any dues can be paid in installments or if there is a financial burden, please contact either your chapter or National. There are scholarships and other ways to support new professionals as well as those experiencing hardship or other issues with current work displacement. Cost should never keep you from participating in PRSA activities. 

    Group Membership

    If you are an organization with more than five people who would like to join, contact PRSA for the group rate. 

    Membership Reinstatement

    Reinstated members are PRSA members whose membership has expired and wish to rejoin.
